International Day for the Eradication of Poverty - 17th October 2018

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17 October).

Recognition of this must surely spur us to consider the conditions experienced by people of many varied cultures who suffer homelessness, lack of adequate food, clothing and human companionship. To this end we are invited to nurture a genuine partnership with people who have experience of poverty, to learn from them what our positive response must be.

Perhaps my poverty is a lack of understanding of my fellow human beings who suffer lack of food, comfortable clothing or human friendship.
