Encounters Weekend 17-19 May 2019

On Friday 17th May the Ursuline Sisters welcomed 20 women at Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney for their annual 'Encounters Weekend Gathering'.  This year the theme was 'Faith, Encounters, Secularism'.  The two speakers were Stephanie Lorenzo and Sr Peta Goldburg rsm.  Both were engaging and offered words of knowledge and encouragement to our partcipants.  Below is a reflection from one of our partcipants...

From 17-19 May, 20 women gathered together with the Ursulines for a weekend focused on 'Faith, Encounters, Secularism’.

Our theme prompted us to consider our Catholic faith and our experiences of secularism in light of recent events and our day to day lives.

We unpacked the meaning of secularism and considered what our secular culture can offer us as disciples.

Our reflections were expertly guided by Stephanie Lorenzo giving us an insight into her work with Voices of Faith; www.voicesoffaith.org and Sr Peta Goldburg rsm who drew from academic literature, Papal writings and Scripture prompting rich discussion.

We are very grateful to Sr Sue Flood and the Ursulines for hosting us for another life giving Encounter.
