Our Internationality

In the 1870's approval was given for a canonical union of three Ursuline monasteries - Blois, Rome and Calvi. Pope Leo XIII later expressed his desire for all Ursuline monasteries to be united with a Superior General in Rome. In response to this an invitation was extended to all Ursuline communities to join an international union. Sisters from 71 houses throughout the world met in Rome on 15th November 1900. From this the Roman Union of the Order of St. Ursula began. Australian Ursuline communities all joined the Roman Union in 1945.

In these pages are found some of the richness of our life in this international Institute.
